Work in the Background
No I have not abandoned WCSOZ. The game has now reached a state where it is playable and as it looks numbers check out, yes no one has beaten it yet, but players tend to survive longer.
Given this I am currently working on building the back story, quests, and lore system. Basically I am creating the history, culture and the legends of the world of Arboria from scratch. I want to enable players to discover the history of the Wizard's castle one fragment at a time. You will have to run through the dungeon several times to discover everything. And this means writing the stories and legends, creating maps, mapping relationships, etc. I can tell you this is more work than I imagined. LoreBuilder (https://lorebuilder.silverday.de) is really helping me keep track of everything.
Originally developed to help me create WCSOZ, it has evolved into a fullblown authoring platform. Everything in your story is broken down to entities, a character, location, event, concept, quest, and other types. Entities are connected via Relationships. A lives in B and knows C, hates D, and does E. From this you can build your story arcs, and finally write your story. Entities can be linked to everything to keep track. At the same time, manage your notes, open points, and references. And if you get lost, you can always ask an AI to check consistencies and connections. All data can be exported (and imported) for a backup, or you can use GitHub to keep track of your changes. Oh, and if you use an AI outside of LoreBuilder, you can either use a provided prompt to import everything you discussed or link it to LoreBuilder via the provided API.
So if you want to try your hand in writing a story, try LoreBuilder! It is free!
